About This Blog

This is a series of posts by Marko Luther, describing the less obvious features of Artisan, an Open Source roasting software. I will use this blog to announce new features of Artisan and keep you up to date on the latest developments. From time to time I might also look at the bigger picture and review related projects here and feature guest posts.

  1. MAKE SURE MODBUS COM PORT MATCHES ET/BT COM PORT

Just got my new hottop "+", had trouble seeing the com port using Windows 7, 32-bit. Under ET/BT tab, I did not have the artisan option "FT230X (etc)", as my FT driver registered under USB COM4. This caused partial software operability whereas BT and ET temp was properly displayed but heat and fan did not register until I ultimately discovered I had to change "Modbus" com port to match the ET/BT com port. Now it works! Just thought I would pass this along.

  2. Hello. Is is possible to increase the maximum temperature (the y-axis), the setting "ymax" ? I am using Artisan for a specialized purpose and need the maximum temperature shown on the y-axis of the chart to be much higher. My meter and thermocouples have no problem reading the higher temperatures, but Artisan software limits the display on the chart to 600F. I understand this upper limit is adequate for coffee roasting, but just hoping there was a way I could modify the software to allow higher temperature recording and charting for my purpose. Thank you.
